DATE: 20 AUGUST 2095 LOCATION: Star Ship Pegasus, Deep Space BZZZZZZZZZZZZZZT
A buzz coming from the small silver circular holo table filled the room. A green light on the control panel flickered on and off. The room was full of a dim blue light from the ceiling gave the room a deep sea feeling. The room was not unoccupied, a lonely figure sat beside the holo table watching the green light flicker. The figure was completely black, save for two pale white hands that gripped the armrests. The head was tilted forward, with no visible face. Engulfed in what seemed to be a full cloak.
After a few seconds of the buzzing the figure slowly reached its hand forward and pressed the green light. Immediately the room glowed a dim green as a figure materialized on the holo table. Through the light the figure picked up its head and it became apparent that there was no cloak, but a long and thick black hair had covered her face. As she straightened she parted her hair with her pale hands and her pitch black eyes start to the glowing figure... she was-
"Black Witch." Immediately the hologram spoke, as its features became detailed it was clear it was a Armored Humanoid. The gear made him robocop esq. With a heavy visor and plate, only his mouth was visible. Without waiting for a response the Precommando asked, "Why do you sit in the darkness?"
"In the darkness, you cannot feel." Mysa said, her voice was heavy with sorrow. As though speaking of this single word was a burden. Her pitch black eye's glistened in the green light, showing her despair. This was no ordinary darkness she spoke of, it was the power of evil that echoed in the universe. Ever feeding on the weak and desperate. For a moment there was silence, then Mysa spoke again "When you are alone in the darkness, you slowly lose what sanity you had. You lose yourself in the endless black. The voice you once thought came from your mouth twists into a cold desire... the desire to extinguish all light. I sit to remind myself of that which I fear to fight... that I must fight."
Though the eyes of the Precommando were not visible beneath his visor, his lips formed a serious frown. He waited again for Mysa to continue, but she said nothing. In the silence they stayed still until the Precommando broke the spell. "We have foreseen many things, as well as Mordru's impending arrival... Of the blood that will be spill-"
"I am not ready for him!" Mysa proclaimed and stood, the room lit up with a blue light. Her form became visible, draped in a pitch black silk turtleneck dress that flowed behind her as she walked clockwise around the table. "I know why you have called, Naltor will not save me again." As she spoke and paced the Precommandos hologram rotated, the commando clasped his hands behind his back.
The Black Witch's eye's flickered with fear, she stopped on the opposite side of the table from the chair. She placed her hands on the holo table and watched the commando. "Why did you call this vessel Precommando?" She said sternly, her black lips pursed into a thin line. The hologram flickered at her question, a heavy buzzing noise filled the air. Mysa stood upright and with her hands at her sides, still intently watching the hologram.
"To deliver the sincerest apologies from the High Seer, Black Witch..." The Precommando spoke, his voice shaking. "He offers one piece of advice, find the Legion before it is too late... Goodluck." His hologram flickered and then vanished. The room was engulfed in dim blue light again. Mysa stood alone gazing at the spot the hologram had once been. She slowly processed what had been told to her and her heart began to feel heavy. For a few seconds there was dead silence.
BZZZZZZZZZZZZZZT
Mysa watched as the incoming holo message flickered again. She composed herself and, steadily she walked to the other side of the table. She pressed the button.
Before her stood a glowed red hologram, a man in robes with a wide smile on his face and beaming eyes. He had long brown locks and a goatee, his voice boomed through the room. "I WILL TAKE WHAT IS MINE!" That instant Mysa smashed her fist upon the green button and with burst of flame magic she overloaded the circuitry. The panel exploded and the hologram disappeared into smoke immediately. The Black Witch fell to her knees. Tears streamed down her pale face, he had found her. He was coming for her.
ALERT ALERT UNKNOWN VESSEL APPROACHING, REPORT TO YOUR STATIONS
The com systems screamed. As Mysa sat on the floor with the systems blaring she sobbed heavily. The fear gripped her so strongly and immobilized her. Her head felt heavy and clouded and full of unsure memories. The terror that Mordru had caused, the power he wished to tear her apart for.
CRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRCCCKKKKKKKKKK
The ship shook, panels on the walls exploded and the light cells shattered. Mysa lifted her head, as tears streamed down her face she quickly jumped to her feet. "I will not die here." She proclaimed to herself, running towards a wall. As soon as she pressed her palm upon the wall a door whooshed open before her.
BRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRT
The starship rocked violently, Mysa gripped onto the door frame so as not to be flung down the corridor.
ALERT ALERT WE ARE UNDER ATTACK! CODE RED!
As the ship violently shook and the lights flicked a dark red Mysa rushed down the corridor. She quickly made her way to the command center of the ship, she ran past the citizens on the ship. Some humanoid and some alien, on her deck was passengers- she knew and feared for their lives. Some had fallen and huddled gripping to the railings. One Naltorian had wounded his head and sat slumped on the floor. Once she made it to the elevator the doors whooshed open and two medics ran out. One stopped in front of her, grabbing her arm "BLACK WITCH THAT CAPTAIN NEEDS YOU IMMEDIATELY!" The human medic cried, as he said this the ship rocked violently again.
CRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRAAAAAAAAAKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKK
The ship shook more violently then before, Mysa clutched onto the railing her eye's wild and afraid. It was not easy for a magician to fight in space. What was this power Mordru held, it frightened her to the bone. The medic was almost flung back and her arm slipped from his grip as the ship was hit again. Mysa quickly reached out to the medic and held him from being flung to the wall. She pulled him to the railing she hung onto, "T-Thank you... take the elevator now before there is no more ship left." he said, his voice shaking. Mysa saw the deep fear in his eyes, she knew he was fighting unlike before.
"I will protect all of you." Mysa said firmly, pushing herself from the railing into the elevator and "COMMAND DECK!" she cried and the elevator doors closed immediately.
When the elevator opened onto the deck Mysa felt relief wash through her, though the Captain and his crew were scrambling over controls they were still alive. Through the chaos and screaming Mysa rushed to the captains chair and gripped his armrest for balance as another violent shock shook the ship. "Captain..." She said, lifting her hand to touch his arm.
The Captain turned to face her, a Middle age white humanoid from earth. He seemed far wiser then his age, he stood and with a deep voice. His name was Duncan Jones, he said "Black Witch, we recorded the transmission for your quarters from the enemy vessel." His voice was stern, he looked at her with questioning eyes. "Who is this vessel and why have they opened fire on --"
BZZZZZZZZZZZZZZT
"CAPTAIN JONES!" The communications expert cried, "THEY ARE HAILING US." For a moment the ship stopped shaking as the buzzing filled the air. The crew stood still in dead silence watching as a massive Ship came into view. It was a monstrous war ship, armed to the teeth with lasers and photon canons. It looked almost like a Giant centipede crawling in space. "By the gods." The captain said, "ANSWER THE DAMN THING."
BZZZZZZZZZZZZZZT
"NO PLEASE!" Mysa cried and the entire deck turned to stare at her, she felt massive pressure from the heavy gazes. She was responsible for the lives that had been lost, for the damage done to the ship. She clenched her fist, her black eyes turned to the Captain Jones. "It is powerful evil wizard..." At the statement the Captain turned to his communications expert and demanded, "ANSWER THE FOOL."
Dead silence as the channel was opened and on the screen flickered a Young man in robes. His smile was quite wide, "Mysa Nal!" He said almost over joyed, "I was quite upset you cancelled my call so suddenly. I'm so sorry if I damaged your ship so harshly. I was very... very mad." at that statement his eyes flickered with darkness, a malevolence that could not be humanly possible. Yet it was. "Who are you and why did you open fire on a Star ship vessel." Captain Jones demanded. Mysa shrunk fearfully behind the captains chair, her eye's were wide in terror.
"Oh don't hide from me..." the man said, he gave her a gentle smile. "It is just me my dear." His voice sent shudders through Mysa's body. "I ASKED YOU A QUESTION, YOUR CENTI WAR VESSEL HAS BROKEN INTERSTELLAR LAWS BY ATTACKING THIS SHIP!" The Captain cried, he stood before Mysa, hiding her with the tall of his back from the eye's of - "Mordru" The man on the screen said, "I am Mordru, I am a GOD COMPARED TO YOU." He screamed. His eye's in a flurry of rage and anger that cause the crew on the ship to shake. "I AM KING OF THE SORCERER'S WORLD, I WILL BE KING OF THE GALAXY." He shouted, he lifted a hand to his face and with two fingers massaged his temples. "Listen you simple, simple human... I just want the child that is cowering behind you." Mordru said once more, the rage in his voice echoed in the room.
"You have FIVE MINUTES TO TELEPORT HER TO MY SHIP, or I will MURDER EVERY LAST ONE OF YOU." He roared and the channel cut, the crew sat for a minute in dead silence. It was the Captain who turned to Mysa and gentle spoke, he knelt down to her and gently clasped her hands in his "Black Witch, I know you are frightened. I know of your power, don't let the darkness control you. You MUST protect this ship from this mad man." He said softly, "We are not properly equip to take down that war vessel."
For a moment Mysa could not answer, she hung her head in shame, her black hair covered her white face. In her ears she could hear the ringing and drumming. Part of her heart was yearning to return to Mordru, and maybe she should... was her life worth that of all those that had died today. Why did the man hunt her, surely he wanted something from her. Something she should safe guard... She pulled her hands from those of the Captains and stood with him. "Five minutes is not enough to cast a large enough spell. I can open a portal that will take us to allied space." Mysa said, her heart pounded so hard in her chest... the flickering red alert lights were starting to make her feel dizzy. "You must delay him till I can cast the portal large enough to bring this ship through."
"Can we do it while we run?" Captain Jones asked, a smile stretching across his face. "Yes." Mysa stated, almost breathless. "YOU HEARD THE WOMAN, ENSIGN TURN THIS SHIP AROUND! CONVERT ALL WEAPONS POWER TO THE ENGINES AND SHIELDS. LETS TURN THIS PUPPY AROUND AND GIVE THEM A RUN FOR THEIR CREDITS." The Captain called, quickly moving to sit in his chair and buckle down. "Lieutenant, open a distress beacon, if we cannot out run them maybe we'll find some Legionaries in these parts." He seemed to almost chuckle to himself at the thought. The crew sprung into action, Mysa moved to the front of the command deck. She doubted her ability to pull an entire vessel through space, but it rested on her shoulders to do so.
She stood before the glass, looking at the beast that was the centi vessel. Not today Mordru... she clasped her hands together as the ship began to turn around, she channeled the spell. A beautiful white light poured from her hands onto the floor of the deck, she closed her eye's and focus. Beginning to mutter the incantations and the ship jumped to warp speed.
"any ships.... any ships... this is the Star Ship Pegasus, we are under heavy fire from centi war vessel and need immediate assistance... our coordinates are--"

It was fortunate that during this time that United Planets and the rest of space existed in relative peace. She would have to say relative because there was always the dominion space or the other galaxies that were yet to come under the United Planet’s flag that left room for ambiguity and worry. The universe had its fair share of unrest and based on the nature of sentient beings it was only part of natural law to break a stagnant time of peace. As a philosopher had once explained to her, it was part of the great evolutionary chain, a necessary event that had to take place to ensure the progression of all sentient beings. It was perhaps a rather morbid and insensitive way of looking at it, but Imra had to agree with the logic behind this train of thought. Living was not possible at all without some sort of adversary.
But for now, it was better to enjoy the peace and instead use this opportunity and the newly sponsored and formed Legion of Super-Heroes to explore the regions of space that had been left unattended to during this time of settled content. Well they would get to that after Rokk had returned from a meeting with the United Planets and Garth, where was Garth? That boy was always disappearing and doing his own thing every now and then that it both irritated and worried Imra. He really was in his own world sometimes and without the help of her telepathy she couldn’t really decipher him sometimes. Void of reading minds was rather difficult, she couldn’t understand how civilizations moved forward with only have to interpret body language and speech. Everything was so vague sometimes that it boggled her mind.
So here she was, the only member of the Legion of Super-Heroes hunkered up in Legion Headquarters with nothing but an actively blinking screen and her own thoughts. She sat in the main computer room, overseeing updates and messages that were being sent across the universe and updates on what was happening under United Planets business or with dignitaries across the cosmos. The Legion agenda was sadly very blank leaving Imra with nothing to do but stare at a read out of the soon to be constitution for the Legion. Since she had the time it was probably in her best interest to perfect the script so that it was clear what their intentions were and what the Legion stood for.
Every good institution had a set of by lines to go by and in an effort to maintain peace and order within the team such a write up was necessary. As Imra learned things were so easy to corrupt, but if they had least had something to stand behind then perhaps they could retain their pure intentions. It’s what R.J. Brande would want and it’s why the United Planets even ok’d this entire team. They were to operate under the United Planet’s and in affiliation with the Science Police, they were not their own police or military force – or at least that’s what the United Planet’s wanted the rest of the universe to believe.
Imra felt that such impressions were somewhat limiting. Because while for the most part they were left to their own devices, for more major events that had to request the permission of the United Planets to go forth and explore. As part of the contract they could not breach this system because it would lead to total disbandment of the team and as far as she was concerned nobody wanted that.
That’s why when the distress signal appeared on her screen and she recognized the Naltorian markings that were embedded in the message she froze momentarily wondering what the proper route of action would be. It was times like this that she detest her solitude. Rokk had been silently christened leader of the team and with good reason, he was the most innovation and perhaps courageous and level-headed of the two. That and his experience in Magno Ball helped immensely with his leadership skills – meaning that he was a perfect fit for the situation. She breathed, her blue eyes scanning the screen as information about the coordinates of the ship and its current situation filed the screen. At the same time she knew the United Planets and Science police was receiving this information – the question was who was going to respond?
It was more curious however as to who the aggressor of the Naltorians was. The Naltorians were a rather simple and docile people they had no true enemies. There had to be good reason for them to be under attack, was it right to feel suspicion? Perhaps they were housing an illegal refugee? No the Naltorians would’t partake in such political dramas, much like the rest of the universe they preferred to keep to themselves. And being the species of foresight they always had cause for their action.
Imra clenched her fist, watching as the distress signal once again blinked onto her screen the ship still hailing for assistance. It was not just the permission that she needed, it was also a matter of whether or not she would be able to obtain back up in time. With Rokk and Garth MIA it would mean that if she answered this call, she would be on her own. While it wouldn’t be the first time, based on her last experience she certainly didn’t want to repeat such a situation. The young Titanian bit her lip as she weighed her options, people were going to die if she did not respond and who knows what would happen if the aggressor triumphed surely this would come into United Planet’s territory.
Slamming her hands on the console, Imra made her decision and opened a communication line.
”This is Saturn Girl of the Legion of Super-Heroes, I am requesting approval to respond to Star Ship Pegasus’ distress signal.”
Her thoughts appeared on the screen and the message was sent, a small cursor blinking as a response was being entertained.
She held her breath, watching and screen and silently cursing as she waited for a response. She wished they didn’t have to go through this in order to go on missions, it severely restricted them and it also meant that these seconds wasted could cost the life of millions. But perhaps she was being too emotional, she was no Superman she couldn’t do i]that much. Permission granted you are required to accompany the Science Police leaving from Space Station Zergon in three minutes. We will attempt a passive resolve and try to avoid confrontation. That was all she needed before she leapt out of her chair and ran out of the room and out of the Legion Headquarters. - - - Sweat was dripping from her brow as she arrived breathlessly at the docking station and boarded the Star Ship UN Volga. She had utilized a vehicle provided by the U.N. to reach the space station and as she walked on board the members on deck nodded as they caught sight of her not needing clearance. “Are we ready to lift off?” Her thoughts projected into the captain’s mind. He flinched slightly, but regained his composure as he caught sight of Imra. “Yes Saturn Girl, we’ll be ready to go in one minute.”She nodded and turned to the communication deck, her blue eyes meeting with ensign who was in charge. “Please open a communication link with Star Ship Pegasus.” The ensign nodded and went to work quickly, confirming with Imra that the line had been open. At the same time, the ship rumbled as it began to rise off the dock and ascend into the skies. “Starship Pegasus, this is Saturn Girl of the Legion of Super-Heroes representing the United Planets. We have received your distress signal and are on route to your coordinates. Please hold on, we will arrive immediately for assistance.” That could have probably been said better, but that’s why she wasn’t the leader of the team. She wiggled her brows and quickly took a seat and watched as the sky began to break and the sea of endless black space and stars filled the windshield. “Forty-five seconds to warp.”She gripped the cushion on her armrests and stared intently into the void. How she wished Rokk and Garth were here with her. [/blockquote]

As the Starship Pegasus hit warpspeed, it took only a few seconds for the ship to rock violently. Throwing all those standing on the bridge to the floor. Mysa Nal flew to the ground and grasped the closest railing she could. The ship shook violently again, the consoles exploded, the red alert signal turned deep and menacing orange. "CAPTAIN, THE BASTARDS SHOT OUR ENGINES!" The engineer screamed, the crew scrambled to maintain balance on the ship. "DROP OUT OF WARP NOW ENSIGN" The Captain cried, "Whats the status on our engines?"
"Engines took a critical hit." the first engineer responded, the Starship dropped hopelessly out of warp. As if almost on queue the Centi warship dropped right beside them. The enemy ship made the starship look like a child's collectible. Through the screen Mysa watched as their lasers charged and blasted the Pegasus. "Convert all power to the shields." Captain Jones called, he pressed his ship compad, "All crewmen, this is your captain speaking." Even as the ship took another heavy hit the Captain spoke calmly. "Take the escape pods and calibrate them to stealth. We are engaging on an enemy that has destroyed countless Starship vessels. All crewman abandon ship." When he finished the message, he turned to Mysa who clung to the railing. "Any magic you can do to hold that ship from destroying us would be greatly--" He began but a buzzing cut him off.
BZZZZZZZZZZZZZZT
In the midst of the silence the hailing beacon, the last message of hope blinked through. "CAPTAIN STARSHIP UN VOLGA IS HAILING US!" The navigation's expert cried! "Open the channel!" The Captain stood and a voice of hope rung through the bridge. “Starship Pegasus, this is Saturn Girl of the Legion of Super-Heroes representing the United Planets. We have received your distress signal and are on route to your coordinates. Please hold on, we will arrive immediately for assistance.”
"Saturn Girl, this is Captain Duncan Jones of the Starship Pegasus. We are facing an enemy called the Centi, a warship that was to be decommissioned years ago, is alive and well and has engaged on my Ship. We are outgunned and out matched, our engines are down and we are currently not capable of warp drive... They are after Black Witch, she is priority cargo." The Captain said sternly, he did not make eye contact with Mysa. Even so her heart lifted when she heard the message, the Legion had found her. Despite the moment of calm another voice rung out in distress, "CAPTAIN OUR SHIELDS ARE TAKING HEAVY FIRE!" the ensign shouted.
The Captain sternly turned to his chief security officer, "Take out those weapons." Though as he said it Mysa stood, she felt a rush of strength wash through her. During her time on the Sorcerer's World it had been her fear that had controlled her, that compelled her to run. She could no longer let her fear control her, she had to stand and fight. "Captain, I will give you time... I cannot guarantee how much..." Mysa said in a breathless voice.
She quickly returned to the center of the bridge, she channeled her power "Noitcetrop Fo Elcric" she chanted immediately a burst of light burst from her body and spread through the floor of the ship. The crew watched Mysa bewildered, as the energy turned into different colors of light beaming from her pale body. The fire from the enemy ship halted or it seemed to. As she cast the spell her body slowly lifted from the floor and began to float as though she was submerged in water. A small circle appeared below her and rose from beneath her feet. It turned into a tiny orb that took the shape of the Starship Pegasus that in turn had a rings circling it. Mysa felt her magic flow through the ship, she felt her energy being drained. To protect such a starship pulled such immense power that would stun any magician in their steps. "Captain... its as if the enemy missiles are vanishing before they can hit the haul..." the first ensign said.
The Captain pressed the ship com, "Members of the Starship Pegasus, this is your Captain speaking. If you have noticed we've stopped taking heavy damage. All crew members stay on board, we have quite a powerful person keeping the ship in stasis... take this time now to perform repairs. I want warp drive up immediately." He turned to his engineer, "Get those engines up!"
Mysa was so aware of her surroundings now. She could hear the voice of the captain not only on the bridge but as his voice echoed in the ship. She felt a pounding against her body as the Centi ship fired a volley of lasers at the starship. She felt Mordru's power now, as she used every ounce of her magic to protect those in charge of protecting her. Priority cargo? From Naltor? Maybe this had been the intention of the Highseer, for her to find the legion and realize her greatest enemy. The great darkness that Mordru possessed sat in space and time beside her. Eyeing her hungrily and wishing to consume her. Would the Legion really be able to help her fight the power that was Mordru... or would it destroy all of them?

Laurel wasn’t into running not in the slightest, usually she liked to fly but it would seem that wasn’t the case today as she was running after her fearless blonde leader as she took off down the street. Imra was heading for a distress call from a star ship called Pegasus. She’s gotten conformation to go to the star ship. Not that Laurel had been ease dropping or anything, well not that much anyway. You really couldn’t call it that if you happened to overhear things because you overheard the everyone within a hundred meter radius if you didn’t focus on only what you wanted to here and she’d limited herself to just the HQ because honestly life on Earth was a little more hectic then she realized people lived…everyone was always on the go doing something and it was mundane and stupid and not something she wanted to be privy too.
She was several steps behind the other blonde because honestly she hadn’t immediately wanted a ‘no, you can’t go’ sort of answer from her. Not that she thought Imra would immediately tell her no but it was something she couldn’t chance. If she was told ‘no’ then she’d have to be that uncharacteristic ‘bad’ guy and go around her that wouldn’t do as it would probably kick her off the team faster then you could say traitor. No, Andromeda would not allow such a thing to happen. She had too many people counting on her making this work. And the sooner she got out of this freaking suit the better off she was going to feel. It was starting to ride her ever last nerve that she had to wear it on Earth everyday all day everyday. She’d begun to feel annoyed with the constant need to shield herself from the lead that covered this planet and honestly she couldn’t wait to get out of it and if this little escapade with the starship Pegasus got her a little freedom from the suit then she’d gladly take it and just cement that they needed her that much more into this little group.
As Imra hit the docking station and was quick to head to a ship Laurel had never really seen before well that was normal the United Planets had all sorts of ships that she’d never seen but this one had to be what they would use as the Legion of Super Heroes maybe, who knew anyway all that mattered was getting on that ship before it took off. Her speed increased to the point where literally one moment she was passing this lady with a scowl on her face, and looking pissed as all hell and then she was standing on the ships main bridge with the staff looking rather startled to see her. She tried not to let it show how very pleasing their surprise was but it wasn’t happening all that much and the smirk was sliding onto her face, all to visible through the clear line of her suit.
“I hope you don’t mind, but I want to tag along,” she grinned at the other woman even as she really didn’t give her much choice to say no as well the ship was already lifting into the skies and working hard to get out of Earth’s atmosphere once that happened they were already preparing to warp just like she had ordered them too. As soon as the starship had broken Earth’s gravitational pull her fingers were curling into the button just under her chin and dragging the helmet away from her head, more than happy to be able to remove it. She shook out her long blonde locks and ran her gloved fingers through her hair, frowning as a few strands snagged along the material of her gloves.
Garth had been all for having her here, after all her powers would be beneficial to her team and she could be their Juggernaut whatever that meant or their Superman only better of course. While not everyone else had been so immediately on board she’d managed to get in and well she was still wondering what everyone really thought about her, not that she cared or anything…ok maybe just a little bit but that really wasn’t the point. She was already stepping out of her space suit and allowing the white suit to fall at her feet as she stepped out of it wearing a tight red outfit covered in specks of gold that shimmered with every step she took and then you had her gold boots and the spiky armor it made you wonder how she hadn’t popped that suit anyway moving on.
She scooped up the suit and was quick to flash a smile at the man staring at her; he wasn’t doing anything important so she handed the suit to him. “Can you store this for me?” The questions had been asked but she’d not really given him time to say no before shoving the puffy white material into his arms. “Thanks.”
she told him before stretching her arms above her head and now giving her full attention to her counterpart. Her blue eyes zeroed in on her and she walked towards her a few steps never allowing anyone to be at her back as she kept moving in a deliberate slow circle of sorts. As though getting a feel for the bridge but anyone who paid attention would know that such actions were far more than normal, those were trained tactics to not let your guard down and keep everyone within sight at all times. Her next words weren’t spoken and would probably catch the other girl off guard, while everyone else had issues with Titanian and their abilities but she found them to be beneficial and certainly in situations just like this, when you didn’t want everyone to know that you didn’t have a plan just that you had to save the people on that other ship and you had no idea what you were about to be walking into. “You have a way you wish to handle this Captain?” She questioned allowing her thoughts to hopefully project into the girl’s mind, that’s how it worked right you just think about what you want to say really loud right? She hoped so anyway, she'd have to figure that out soon. Her lips curled up in a grin she didn’t mean to joke at a time like this but you had to find the humor in the small things. As she allowed her fingers to dig into the back of Imra’s chair as the Ship entered warp speed she waited wondering if Imra had a plan at all, it was fine if she didn’t they could improvise and all the more reason for her to be here. She could be of assistance and totally be their ace in the hole. They would be there soon they had another ten seconds or so, honestly she hated warping it always left her ears ringing the problems of having super hearing but it would pass and it wouldn’t affect her long. As she waited for Imra to respond she paid attention to what this Captain Duncan Jones said and she frowned slightly more than a little curious as to who this Black Witch was, to be priority cargo clearly she was important maybe even someone of royalty or something anyway she honestly hoped that whoever she was that she wasn’t completely useless, those sorts of people really hampered the effectiveness of a strike team, not that they couldn’t handle it and whatever fight they were about to walk into, of course they could. Laurel knew she was ready for it, she’d been born ready, fighting was what she did best. [/blockquote]

To be honest, Imra was still entirely unfamiliar with this Legion business. The team existed in their premature stages and despite having guidelines, rules and constitutions set in place procedure and how to team actually acted as a team was still kind of confusing. Especially when they were somewhat divided and expected to come together at any sign of trouble. This is why she had completely forgotten that she had a batch of recruits at her disposal, especially considering they had just held auditions a week ago. Andromeda would have been the best choice to bring along on this mission. A combination of her brawn and military training and expertise was something that Saturn Girl would need on her side. Especially when they had no idea what they were coming up against.
That’s why when Andromeda made her presence known Imra could only feel relief instead of being angry. There was no room for reprimanding, this was Legion business and Andromeda had just as much of a right to be here as she did. Had she not been so focused on the situation at hand she would have caught onto the girl’s presence on the ship but the circumstances had allowed her to keep her own thoughts to herself.
There were no exchange of words between her and Andromeda after she made her presence known, but instead Imra gave Laurel a simple nod of the head that reaffirmed her approval of her presence. They were the Legion of Super-Heroes after all.
They were moving through space now at light speeds, doing what t they could to reach the Starship Pegasus. Imra could only hope that they arrived in time to save enough lives and to ensure that they could prevent a war from happening on their hands. That was the last thing the United Planet’s needed and honestly she wasn’t ready to deal with something like that, in fact she was unsure if she would ever be ready. She supposed that’s why they had individuals like Andromeda on the team, if she failed at least Laurel knew what would be the best moves to make.
The transmission she sent had been received by the Starship Pegasus and a response was sent immediately. Captain Duncan spoke of a decommissioned starship that had been reactivated for what purposes were still very unclear. If Imra had to guess however, it had to do with the priority package they had on board, an individual that she had not heard of, but one that had to have obvious importance if an entire Starship was after her.
Decisions had to be made, the aggressor was still unknown and Imra was unsure if it was in the best interests of the United Planets to get involved interplanetary disputes especially ones that involved such persistent enemies as theirs. If they could get out of this situation without a majority of lives lost and with mutual understandings abound then that would be the most ideal outcome, but Imra knew things wouldn’t play out that way.
“Captain we’re closing on Pegasus’ coordinates.”
An Ensign on board recalled her attention and Imra sat with bated breath as they began to fall out of warp speed she breathed in and out and looked over to the Captain of the ship who had a calculating look on his face. Although she was here to represent the Legion, at the end of the day the Captain called the shots on this ship and the mission. This was how the group would operate, until hopefully the United Planets felt they could take them off leash. It almost felt like they had a baby sitter all the time, but Imra could understand the concerns. The Universe had been without vigilantes for a long time and the Science Police were a source of some discontent in the universe since it was the only militant force. Worse it was under the United Planets which ever recognized as a façade for Earth and that made everyone feel like the tiny blue planet was in control. In short it was a whole political spectrum that Imra was not prepared to stray into – just yet.
She did wonder though what they would do from here, a decommissioned ship was grounds for serious punishment. Attacking near United Planet space was another and attacking a United Planet ally had huge repercussions. Time could only tell what was to come, Imra could only be ready or at least feign that she was.
They finally dropped out of warp, and the stars that were originally blurs around them began to take their own individual forms. As the two star ships came into view the entire deck fell silent as they witnessed the awesome display before them. Weapons were firing from the enormous decommissioned starship, aimed directly for the Pegasus. However it did not make contact with it, instead an invisible sphere swallowed up the concussive blasts and seemed to swallow it up into an unseen void. It was an amazing display of power, something that could not be performed by any of the ships that Imra had ever seen, in fact she didn’t think the Naltorian vessel was capable of such abilities.
Perhaps it had something to do with the precious cargo.
Imra snapped out of her awe and began scan the ship, counting the number of sentient minds that were still alive or at least breathing. There weren’t many and based on the weak links that she was creating, many were injured. She grimaced slightly, taking a mental count as she continued to scan the ship.
To her left, the Captain demanded an open channel to the aggressive vessel. It was originally denied, but persistence allowed them an audience finally.
“This is Captain Eren of the Starship Un Volga. You are currently bordering United Planet Space under the pretenses of aggression, an action punishable by law. If you do not cease fire on the Starship Pegasus and disengage your weapons we will open fire on your vessel. Lower you shields if you comply.”
A silence fell over the bridge as the entire crew waited for a response. There was a flicker on their monitors and Imra could see the shield that protected the Pegasus began to fade and allow the blasts to collide with its hull. A few murmurs rumbled across the deck as pieces of the starship began to float off the vessel and the lights onboard began to flicker and then finally go out.
”Captain…”
Her blue eyes glimmered with concern as she looked up at Eren. His expression was stoic and without reading his mind she was unsure of what was going through his head. She could only hope that he was planning the best course of action before everyone on that entire vessel perished.
“Open another channel.”
Captain Eren spoke, absolute calmness in his voice as he stared at the screen.
“This is Captain Eren of the Starship Un Volga, you have failed to comply to our demands. By order of the United Planets we are required to apprehend your ship and crew and place you under arrest.”
He breathed in, as if trying to regain his composure.
“Prepare to be boarded.”
Imra opened her eyes, realizing that they were going to go into the mouth of the beast. Before she could object, the Captain was barking orders at the crew and demanding that the artillery and reconnaissance crew prepare for boarding. She froze for a moment realizing that he had not directed an order to her nor Laurel, surely a mistake on his behalf but something she wasn’t going to let pass by. Andromeda would be a great asset for boarding the craft and with their help they could potentially lessen the amount of casualties.
Looking back to the decommissioned ship, she paused studying its eerie glow and observing as it finally had stopped firing on the Pegasus. Quirking her brow, she focused her mind and began to reach out to the ship, using her telepathic abilities to determine just how many people they were up against.
But there was a probably, when she reached out, nothing came back. No sentient creature rang back in her mind and that’s when she realized as the Starship Pegasus began to glow with life and seemingly begin to restore itself.
”Captain! It’s a trap! No one is on that ship!”
There was a pause as the Captain processed what she said in his head. He turned to her slowly, confused and looked to the screen. The view of the ships outside was blocked suddenly as an incoming transmission appeared on screen.
“This is Captain Duncan… we’ve been boarded… I don’t know how. They appeared out of nowhere. I’ve lost Starship Pega-“
There was a gurgle as if he had got something caught in his throat and Imra’s hand flew over her mouth as she realized he was probably choking on his own blood. Her heart was beating fast now and her eyes trembled as one by one the links she had made with the individuals on board the Pegasus began to go out. She could almost feel tears forming, but she would not let them fall.
Relinquishing her grip on the emotion at hand, Imra turned and began to stride off the bridge.
”Laurel, we’re going. We are boarding that ship.”
When Laurel followed after her and they both exited the bridge much to the Captain’s annoyance and ignoring his calls, Imra looked to Laurel.
”They aren’t going to just let us waltz in there… can you make us an entrance?”
Surely the question was not necessary, but she was sure Laurel would enjoy the challenge. As they entered the hangar where they would exit from, Imra swiftly grabbed a space suit off the rack and by simply placing simple bracers on her wrists and activating the device she was able to conceive an entire suit that covered her body, complete with a helmet. It would enable her to survive the vacuum of space and give her a limited amount of oxygen.
”I want us to be small targets… we won’t be taking a ship.”
She was thinking fast now, faster than she ever had in a situation like this. Imra could only hope everything she was suggesting was rational.
”So I’m going to need a lift.”
They stood in front of the hangar’s main door now where Imra looked to Laurel awaiting her response and hovered her small hand over the latch that would open the door to space.
