timber wolf
Name: Brin londo Origin: zuun SPECIES: zuunian GENDER: male | HEIGHT: 6' WEIGHT: 160 lbs AGE: 15 ALIGNMENT: legion of super-heroes |
POWERS
Brin's super-powers and irreversible DNA alterations come from the results of both him possessing a metagene (being the first in his family to ever have it), something his father discovered and exploited, and the Zuunium rays Mar Londo also used in these experiments. These include.
In addition, his claws are more durable than human nails and capable of tearing through most materials.
- Super Strength: Timber Wolf's strength is several times that of a normal human. As such, he can easily lift and throw things like computer consoles and large medical tables. The amount of weight he's capable of lifting goes up when he transforms.
- Super Speed: Faster than a normal human especially when on all fours, Timber Wolf is able to instinctively avoid attacks and relies heavily on his speed and agility in a fight. His speed can increase slightly when he's in his feral form.
- Super Agility: Timber Wolf has enhanced agility making him a fearsome physical opponent in battle. He can use this to enable himself to leap up and from walls when cornered, and adapts it into his fighting style. He can also perform superhero leaps like jumping over high walls.
- Heightened Senses: Brin's senses are enhanced, however his sense of smell and hearing seem the most dominant and enable him to identify, locate and track anyone. He also seems to possess night-vision and his sense of taste, coupled with his sense of smell, assists him in his cooking.
- Werewolf-like Attributes: As a result of his father's experiments, Brin is always at risk of losing control of his feral side and never knows when it might happen, this side of him can be set off by things like stress, his emotional state or outside influences. In his feral form, his body mass increases as he becomes taller and more powerfully-built.
- Healing Factor: A side-effect caused by the Zuunium treatments triggered an adaption needed to help cope with Brin's transformations and the amount of pressure they have on his body internally. He is able to recover from minor injuries faster than a normal human but it takes longer for him to regenerate from severe injuries and he can't regenerate lost body parts or organs.
This also gives him an accelerated metabolism and an enhanced immune system which makes it extremely difficult for him to get sick. Another side-effect of his healing factor means sedatives will work on him only in massive doses and it's very difficult to keep him under with such drugs.
In addition, his claws are more durable than human nails and capable of tearing through most materials.
ABILITIES
- Survival Skills: Brin possesses excellent tracking and hunting skills thanks to his enhanced senses and is capable of surviving in most wildernesses and extreme temperatures (such as severe storms or blizzards) for extended periods of time.
- Combat: His animalistic instincts, coupled with his speed and raw strength, makes him an excellent brawler.
- Cook/Chef: Brin has a gift for cooking and baking, something that he inherited from his maternal grandfather. It also seems to have skipped at least one generation as his mother would often joke about her burning water just like Brin's grandmother claimed to do.
- Artist: He is an amateur artist due to the fact other than reading, it was one of the few ways he could amuse himself on both the backwater worlds of Zuun and Rawl while growing up so he had plenty of time to improve his drawing and sketching techniques.
- Mechanic: While not the genius his father is, Brin was at least taught the basic sciences and found himself excelling at one particular aspect of the more hands-on areas of the technical side of things. While unable to invent something completely from scratch, he can fit and possibly improve on any modifications to most ships, and depending on the damage is able to fix almost any type of vehicle or machine.
WEAKNESSES
- Senses: Brin's enhanced senses means he can be disabled or dispatched through the use of sound-based weapons or attacks and gases (either knock-out or poisonous).
- Instinctive Behavior: On missions he relies on his instincts, however this can work to his disadvantage when going up against an opponent who's capable of outwitting him.
- Feral Side: While Brin's strength and speed increases in his feral form, this side of him can used against him as he is capable of failing to tell the difference between friend and foe especially if mind-control of any sort or level is involved.
- Anti-social Tendencies: His insecurities about losing control will drive him to act like he doesn't need or want anyone's help when in trouble especially when he fears hurting those close to him.
- Starvation: Brin's accelerated metabolism means hunger can compromise this ability and slow it down, he also needs to eat more than normal so that he can maintain his transformations otherwise he won't be able to hold them due to exhaustion or lack of energy.
- Motion Sickness: This normally occurs when repetitive small movements can mean Brin's brain is sent a jumble of contrasting sensory information. The eyes say one thing about the position of his body while the delicate inner ear balance mechanisms are reporting something different. Repeated unusual movements will make it worse, the condition starts with a queasy feeling and leads to nausea, dizziness, sweating, pallor and vomiting.
Despite his best efforts to keep it under control, just thinking about any rough movement can cause him anxiety and symptoms of motion sickness. In the meantime Brin is also leaning towards the precaution of medication to reduce the chances of getting motion sickness and try controlling the symptoms.
EQUIPMENT
- Specialized Costume: Made of unstable synthetic material invented by his father with the intention of rearranging itself to Brin's body mass even when he is in his more feral form. Brin mostly wears a costume that's orange in general coloring, the center of the front section has an almost Y-shaped middle, dark grey in coloring, with a pair of yellow animal eyes positioned right in the area below the neck. The sleeves are long and end at his wrists while the suit is finished off by a pair of cloth-like brown boots designed to accommodate his clawed feet and brown gloves that end at the elbows, all made of the same unstable synthetic material.
PERSONALITY
Normally a quiet, even-tempered and level-headed boy, Brin can prove stubborn and will display a short temper if pushed into it. He is somewhat anti-social but in not a cruel way, finding it hard to open up to people and will hide his uncertainty under the occasional wisecrack. Once someone gets past his defensive attitude, he is brave, loyal and caring to the point of being protective of those he allows to get close to him.
Brin fears the beast within and that he might unwittingly harm those closest to him if he loses control. Because of what was done to him, he harbors a strong resentment towards his father but at the same time, refuses to completely sink down to Doctor Londo's level.
His instinctual streak gives him a slight intuition and he sees things others miss, solving problems in simple, honest and direct ways. Thanks to his feral side, he tends to not fare well in social settings and can seem discomforted by them. He is also somewhat insecure about his appearance.

HISTORY
Born to Mar and Kanna Londo on January the 12th fourteen years ago, Brin spent his early childhood living in the mining colony on the inhospitable planet of Zuun, unaware that his mother had given up her dream to be a zoologist when she became pregnant, feeling two scientists and a baby weren't a good mix.
Then Kanna died shortly after Brin turned ten years old, having ended up working as a medic in a local hospital, she was part of a team chosen to assist with helping the survivors of a cave-in. However the rescue operation met with tragedy as the trapped miners and the team sent to get them out were caught in a further series of tremors. None of them made it out alive and following the death of his wife, Londo's personality started to take a serious turn for the worse, he took his son and they moved out to the jungle world of Rawl.
Three years later, his nightmare began as Doctor Londo performed painful experiments centered around his son's metagene, some involving exposure to Zuunium radiation, on his thirteen year old son for the next two years all so he could create the ultimate fighting machine, eventually transforming the boy into a wolf-like beast, a process that was irreversible.
After he turned fifteen, Brin escaped from his father's laboratory in a fit of completely feral rage, ran off into the forests of Rawl and rejected any attempts to recapture him.
His father sent robots to track him down, but Brin, having reverted to a state of primal savagery, destroyed them all and drove Doctor Londo to try recruiting outside help in order to recapture him.
This would lead a couple of representatives from the United Planets to Rawl, one being Princess Projectra. However their refusal to fund Londo's so-called research would end in murder and attempted kidnapping.
Brin would encounter the other teenager as she fled from his father's compound and tried to help her fully escape the robots sent after her. This encounter led to Projectra, in an attempt to defend herself, to trigger an illusion that made the boy recall just what had been done to him, memories of a life he had buried due to physical, mental and emotional pain and resulted in him adopting a more humanoid appearance.
After confronting his father, the doctor escaping for a while, Brin completely destroyed his father's laboratory and taking everything he owned, left for Earth with his new ally.
Brin's maternal grandfather is alive and still runs an Italian restaurant in San Francisco but Brin hasn't approached him yet. Based on stories of the man from both his grandmother and mother, he's not sure he wants to as Alban chose his career over his own family when Thea was offered a geologist position on Zuun.

INTERVIEW RECORDING
Having retreated to the back of the ship, the young man lent on what could just about be called a window-sill and stared out at the stars with a dry chuckle. Things had been so much simpler when he was the beast. Yet he didn't want to go back to that life, to lose his humanity completely again as one hand came up to run through his hair and the cool air blowing from the air-conditioning unit pushed the white streaks sitting among his long dark hair to and fro slightly and he frowned as he found the tips of his claws nervously scratching at the cold metal ever so slightly and withdrew his hands from the window.
He found himself shivering a bit despite the fur and not just from the cold. Was he ready for this, to become part of something greater, to fit into Earth's society? His father's parting words to him, about never being able to fully control himself echoed around his thoughts and he shuddered, a low growl slipping out as his lips drew away from his fangs in a full snarl before he caught himself and shook his head. No, he wasn't like that, he was no animal, no monster.
Suddenly the briefest flash of blue and green caught his attention. Earth! Brin shifted slightly, even after all the stories his parents had told him about that planet, seeing it in person was something completely different, and almost exciting. One of his ears gave a slight twitch, the only outward sign of how on edge he felt as he moved to the door leading back into the main part of the ship, Projectra's muffled voice just about reaching him through the metal and he reached for the handle.
